The terrible tragedies in Oklahoma have created a need for food and supplies to the tornado victims.  For those looking to help out, That Real Estate Show’s Community Events Director, Diva Danielle recommends volunteering with the St. Mary’s Food Bank.  They need volunteers to assist with the emergency food packs being prepared for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  The St. Mary’s Food Bank will be sending over bottled water, peanut butter, other snack items, canned foods, and bags of white rice.

The “E” word isn’t a bad word in Phoenix real estate anymore

The first time I went house hunting was during the summer of 1999.   Fresh out of high school, I accompanied my parents on their search for a downgrade in home size, now that their second of three children was off to college.  They eventually chose a very nice home in a newer area of Northern Glendale at a fairly modest, $175,000 sale price.  During the time I was there, their housing upgrade was soon overshadowed by its fortuitous financial implications, as appreciation in a booming Phoenix market drove the value of the house up more than twice what they paid.  They leveraged a positive equity position into a better interest rate and home loan.  I still vividly recall the excitement of the

It started as a harmless conversation a few weeks ago.  A friend of mine and I were having a casual chat about the promising real estate market conditions, and what it might mean for each of us.  I was particularly excited to have this talk on this particular day, because there was a recently listed property in my neighborhood priced nearly $80,000 over my own purchase amount three years before.  Very exciting news!   My friend, on the other hand, could not exactly empathize:


“Must be nice…” he said.
“What?”
“To be able to say the ‘E’ word.”
“What ‘E’ word?” I asked.
“Equity!” he quickly yelled back.

Diva Danielle, That Real Estate Show's Community Events Director, has a very nice volunteer/charity opportunity to help children in at risk populations.  "Kicks for Kids" is a shoe drive to help with the growing need of shoes for families and kids.   They're looking for shoes for ages 10-18, and you can purchase these shoes or donate $10-20.
